Day One

Two days ago, Georgia's 10th birthday, she was admitted to Dell Children's Hospital for testing. Yesterday, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a very common, very curable cancer of the blood.

Today, she began her first round of chemotherapy, and she and her team - the Peachy Keens - are confident she will win this fight. ALL never had a chance!

  2. Hi Georgia! Its Eva Gonzales, I work with your Dad. You know, every day I see your thank you note to me with that great picture of a polar bear that you drew. Your comment was that drawing a polar bear is very very very hard but by the looks of that great picture, I can tell that you are a very determined person. It looks exactly like a polar bear to me! Your determination will get you through ALL this (heh heh, bad pun.) Stay Stong, keep positive and I will do the same.
    all the best,

    Eva

PS You look just like your mom! Beautiful.

  8. Hi Georgia

Your blog is awesome. I'm glad we'll be able to stay connected with you through this blog and Skype. We all certainly miss you. I had a lot of fun with you making drawings about what a pencil would do it it lost its owner. I look forward to when we can do more silly things like that again. You're a strong spirit and an inspiration for sure and we could all learn a lot from you.

  19. Hi again Georgia!
I think about you everyday and how brave you are! I too had cancer and decided early on that I was going to beat it and I did just like you are going to do.
I would imagine that you are an animal lover since your Grandparents Leslie and John are. Your Lolly and I used to say that we would love to take in all the homeless animals, feed them, love them and find good homes for them. With that in mind I want to tell you about my latest "taking care of animals" project. We have three cats of our own plus four feral cats (we have tamed two of them) that we feed. Since the weather has been on the cold side my husband (Wally) and I had an idea. We got some boxes (one per cat) and put heating pads inside of pillow slips, put them in the boxes and bingo! The cats are warm and very happy! Their little faces express gratitude so we feel that we have accomplished our mission! I will send you pictures of them. All of our cats have a first and middle name. There's Ernie Frank (Frank is my husband's middle name and since he only had daughters we thought he needed a namesake!)Samantha Lynn, Bonnie Bell and the ferals: Lucy, Lilly, Blanco and Bella.
I thought that you might enjoy hearing the "heating pad" story!
Better go get ready for the day! Lots of love coming your way!
    Edie

  22. Hi Georgia!
Edie and I are reading your blog and of course we are thinking about you and how brave you are! I'm sending you a package...hopefully you will receive it next week.
Edie is doing the "typing" because I don't have the skills that are necessary to do this!!
I enjoyed seeing you at the "Sip and See" at Lolly's house. You look just like your Mom who I think is very pretty. Keep playing those games with Lolly (I hear that she is becoming an expert!)
Lots of Love and prayers are coming your way!
    Sandy and Edie
