Twenty-four days 'til APRIL 29TH, and it just so happens that today marks five years since Georgia's last day surgery/LP-ITC/spinal tap with chemo injection - it went by many names, mainly because she had that procedure so many times! As you know, it's a huge component of the ALL protocol and is the main reason that the overall cure rate for this particular childhood cancer is one of the highest - roughly 85%. But that doesn't mean that we didn't hold our breath every time, from the moment she went under to the moment Dr. Neff came out to give us the literal "all clear." I can see and hear it all like it was yesterday, so it's hard to believe that we're five years down the road and teetering on the brink of Georgia's Official Cancer-Freedom!
